Witchcraft is not evil, demonic nor are we Satan worshippers. In fact, witchcraft is the opposite. A lot of these dark connotations derived from Christianity and Catholicism during the transition from pagan belief systems. Whilst there is definitely witches that believe in those things, many of us do not as it belongs to non pagan religious practices. The only demons that exist in my mind are the ones of our own creation and it’s up to us to overcome these during our journey.
The old ways belong to the pagans, which means you did not practice or believe in Christianity, Catholicism, Judaism or Islamic faith.
The word pagan derives from the word Paganus that when translated into Latin, means “Country Dweller”.
Makes sense to me so let’s talk about it a little bit more.
Our Ancestors were all country dwellers at one time or another. This is how we have knowledge of the seasons, when, where and how to plant, grow, hunt and gather food. Everyone had a role to play in surviving as a community and they all worked together. Women were once held in high regard as the wisdom keepers, the healers, the nurturers, the medicine woman, the lovers, the mothers and much more.
If you open up a farmers almanac to this very day, you will see a lot of similarities with that of a witches grimoire. The witch lives by the wheel of the year, the tides, nature and the lunar cycles. As above, so below… like a tree whose roots are deeply rooted within the earth and its branches outstretched toward the sky(the tree of life). The Dark/light, earth/skies, dead/living, sea/land, the sun and moon. It’s a cycle that ebbs and flows, one cannot exist without the other like a rhythmic dance of oneness.
All modern, authentic, seasoned witches know we all hold a witches wound. Inherited from our female ancestors after the patriarchy was birthed into existence, we were stripped of our divine feminine power, ridiculed, suppressed, oppressed, murdered, burnt at the stake and it kept us in survival mode. It forced us to stay in our divine masculine energy, struggling to realign with our divine feminine energy. Any women deemed as strong, independent, free thinking, rebellious, business owners, herbalists, foragers, attractive, healers, midwives… anything that made us appear more knowledgeable than men, or made men jealous, or feel weak and lustful was what sealed our fate. The Patriarchy labeled us as witches, we were tortured and executed under the churches vendetta to suppress our power. This would forever be remembered as the great massacre of women.
Women today, continue to be murdered at the hands of male perpetrated violence at an alarming rate. It’s ingrained in all cultures across the globe. The rights of our body autonomy, paying for sanitary products, gender inequality in the workplace, pay gaps, inequality in leadership roles, poor access and knowledge regarding female reproductive health, hormones, peri-menopause, menopause and post menopause, Pcos, forced marriage… the list goes on!
Which leads me to this…
Witchcraft for me has become a reclamation of female power and deep immense healing. To be a witch your are rebelling against the patriarchy and all it stands for. Witchcraft is encouraging all women to step into their divine feminine energy, heal what has been fractured through many timelines and generations and reclaim your feminine gifts once more. It is our responsibility to aid, educate, heal and advocate for change for our daughters and future generations of women.
Witchcraft is authentic, it’s not an aesthetic. It’s waking up every single day and doing the work. It’s not for clout. It’s healing yourself so you can break the cycles for future generations. It’s not all hexing and cursing, that is a last resort and if you are using darker magic on the regular then you might want to check in with your shadow and ask why? However, we still maintain a fuck around and find out mindset. 😉🤣 (especially where the patriarchy is concerned)
What you probably shouldn’t do is be like the lady who went viral on social media after she was spotted at the American Super Bowl, stabbing her voodoo doll in desperation 😩 why?! What a waste of energy and that poor guy, what did he ever do to you lady haha 🤣
Witchcraft is not buying every book, every divination tool & deck, it’s not dressing a certain way. It can be those things if you’re actually using those items however majority of the shit witches accumulate is not really required to practice their craft and most of us are aware of this, we just like pretty stuff 🤣 however, we do have access to a more simpler way of doing things. Witchcraft is messy, it’s getting your hands dirty, it’s jumping in the ocean and rivers, it’s planting, growing and harvesting, it’s connection with nature, the elements and the gods. It’s knowing the goddess always provides and usually it requires one to just open their eyes and pay attention. There’s messages all around us, it’s the weeds in your garden, plants & trees that naturally grow around our houses, it’s the animals that cross our paths, it’s the messages in our dreams and it’s all around us, all of the time. It’s a knowing and a remembering of all that is sacred, that you are divinely guided and supported. Every lesson has its purpose, whether its pleasure or pain, it’s necessary. Reclaim your wild feminine ladies.
Lets end on this note as I could write about this forever and a lot I have/will put into my online programs over time, a witches work is never done.
In my divine feminine goddess program I’ve been covering a new goddess each month. So far we have introduced Quan Yin and Persephone. I’m interested to see who wants the next spotlight so stay tuned.
Have a blessed week Mystics 🧙🏼♀️💕✨
