Magical pondering & discussion

The little girl within us all is beckoning for you to remember who you are. Do you remember those sun filled days where adventure was the first thing on your mind as soon as you jumped out of bed? You wake up in the morning with excitement for what the day may bring and all its wonderful possibilities. Building huts or fairy houses out side in the garden and wishing for the fairies to love it. Walking through bushland collecting bones, rocks, sticks and other cool things. (Yes, I packed my backpack, fed the horses and off I went).
Do you remember those weekends at your grandparents house, the scent of Nan’s cooking and her endless love. The old stories she’d tell you about magic and of when she was young like it was another lifetime. Life was so simple then, magic was everywhere like an electric frequency running through your veins.
Then as a teenager being so caught up in your own world, spending hours upon hours talking with your best friends and fantasising about all the things you want to do as a grown up.
I don’t know about you but, I still tell all my deepest secrets to my animals and they have now become my closest confidants.
The magic that was felt as a child, that feeling of wonder and excitement, that is the feeling I seek on my journey, with my magic.
I seek connection with the story tellers, the old wise crones, the dancing maidens, the strong mothers, the medicine women, the healers and of course… The witches.
I seek the sparkling morning frost and dew, the crackling of fire on a cold winters night, the sound of rain and waterfalls. I want a paddock full of sunflowers and to watch the pink and purple sunsets. I long for the wild places that call me to come home. I am in a stage of deep remembering and seeking the path less travelled where all the magic resides.
I feel less caught up with the mundane muggle struggle because it no longer holds value.
How many of us actually held true to the wishes of that little girl that lives within us all?! I sometimes ponder upon how it all changed? Was it because growing up meant more responsibilities? Or was it that I forgot to incorporate all of the things that were so special to me. Who else wanted jump into the many books you read just to sample the magic?!
I’d love to hear some stories from everyone? Was there a particular story your grandmother told you? What books have inspired you? What art or craft are you currently creating? Where is your favourite place to go that gives you a sense of magic?
I personally am a huge fantasy fan, my favourites are lord of the rings, the hobbit, the silmarilion- Tolkien, C.S Lewis, Harry Potter, The Eragon series by Christopher Paolini, I thoroughly enjoyed vampire academy by Richelle mead, the house of night series by PC & Kristin cast and anything by Raymond E. Feist.
I am currently reading 2 books right now - Fairy Tale by Stephen king and The night house by Danielle Dulsky
What is everyone reading right now? If you know of any good fantasy books please let me know. I’ll be looking for something new soon.
